Discovering Your Higher Purpose

Every person asks the question at some point in life: What is the higher purpose of my life?

While each journey is unique, the foundation remains the same. In Jesus’ Kingdom, our purpose is not centered on becoming a “better self.” Instead, it begins with understanding what God is doing in the world and discovering how we are invited to join His plan.

As students begin to recognize this purpose, they also begin to understand that Life Calling is more than choosing a career or profession. It shapes every part of life. It influences the way we think, serve, lead, relate to others, and pursue meaning. That realization becomes the starting point for a life filled with significance, hope, and lasting impact.

The Life Calling Model

The Life Calling Model is built around three connected areas that work together to help students better understand who they are and how they are uniquely called to live.

Personal Mission

Mission • Vision • Action

Together, these areas help students develop a deeper understanding of themselves, their purpose, and the ways they can positively impact the world around them.

Foundational Values

A set of foundational values exists at the core of every person’s life. Each of us develops a personal creed that attempts to explain the reality of the universe and existence itself. From that understanding, we develop attitudes about our own self-worth, the value of others, and the world around us.

Faith

Faith provides the premise for existence and establishes the foundation for how we live.

Character

Character gives action to the faith we have developed.

Service

Service embodies our faith and reveals the value we place on others.

Unique Design

Our Unique Design can be seen in the distinct characteristics that make us who we are. It shapes what we deeply care about and influences how we respond to the experiences of life. Unique Design becomes both a foundation and a guide as we discern our Life Calling.

Strengths

Strengths are areas in which we demonstrate a degree of effectiveness and ability.

Passions

Passions are the things we care about most deeply.

Experiences

Experiences shape us into the people we become.

Personal Mission

Life Calling is ultimately carried out through a Personal Mission. Reflection alone is not enough. We must move beyond simply understanding our values and design and begin taking meaningful action.

Mission

Mission is the driving force behind the actions of our lives.

Vision

Vision focuses our attention on where we can have meaningful impact in the world.

Action

Action leads to the most effective responses to the needs around us.

Living Out Your Calling

A meaningful life is not discovered accidentally. It is developed through faith, intentional growth, service to others, and courageous action. As students explore their values, understand their unique design, and pursue a personal mission, they begin to discover how God can use their lives to make a lasting difference.
